The Lion and The Lamb Pt. 1
The Lion and The Lamb
Some time ago I was away from my family, I was at a point where I was trying to find my own faith. I couldn’t understand what was going on in my life. Seeing that I was just a year out of highschool, living in an apartment with people I didn’t even know. I was going to a college to which was completely secular. This was a point in my life where I was out of a relationship, which was unhealthy, for about two years before. There was no way that I was able to function on my own because I did not understand where I was.
One night I was laying in bed, in my room of this six room apartment, I was restless which was keeping me from sleeping. In my restlessness I decided to get of my bed and walk out to the living room of this apartment, to which was five rooms down the hallway. The hallway was dark but there was little light coming from beneath a couple of the doors to which lined this hallway. This little light gave a gloominess to the hallway, so my imagination made this place even more frightening.
As I tried to get over my imagination, I took a step out into the darkness. The farther I left my room’s doorway, I thought I felt a presence behind me but tried to convince myself that it was just my imagination. I was creating creatures out of shadows. My walk through the dark seemed a bit less than traumatic, I had made it to the living room with a dark kitchen to my right. There was still a feeling of a stalking creature behind me. Even turning around could not relieve this feeling, in the corners of my eyes I would see fleeting entities, leaving my eyesight before I could catch them.
My journey to such a simple place in order to look for peace from my restlessness was becoming a scene from a horror movie. I didn’t want to be there, in this dark place with shadows surrounding me ready to attack at any moment. The only place I thought I would be safe would be my room, so I quickly paced to the sixth room, to which was my room. While I focused on the silhouette of my rooms doorway, I felt the presences claw at me, so I attempted to pick up my pace in desperation to reach my room.
The darkness seemed to envelope the hallway around me and this battle seemed to get harder and harder as it seemed like the hallway was getting longer and longer. I found myself tripping as if there was marbles under my feet causing me to fall on my face and I would attempt to crawl to my room at the end of the hall. All hope had seemed lost, I yearned for the protection of my room. I then rolled myself into a ball and I started to feel something biting on my legs and arms.
I cried for help but it seemed helpless as the biting intensified. The biting turned into pulling, I would start to hear growling and yipping as if wolves and hyenas swarmed around me. These shadows were taking turns at my fetal body, biting, pulling, and clawing. All the darkness seemed to fully envelope me but I open my eyes just enough to see a glow from my locked shut eyelids. Suddenly a roar, full of power, dominated the atmosphere around me, the growls and yipping faded, the biting and pulling suddenly stopped. All went silent. Moments seemed to pass, then in the silence I heard a steady, soft patting on the ground, getting closer and closer. As soon as the soft, steady footsteps stopped, I heard a still soft voice say, “Child, why are you crying?”
