The Lion and The Lamb Pt.2

The Lion and The Lamb
Part Two

With my eyes locked shut there was a deafening silence. I fought to open my eyes but they did not want to open. I thought I would never open my eyes again. then I felt a hand rest on my shoulder. this hand was soft, gentle, and had a loving warmth come from it. I felt my heart slow as if I was about to fall asleep. Then the voice spoke again, this time just as soft but with more of a firmness as like a father with His child.

“Open your eyes, child.” the voice commanded me.

In that moment I felt the hand move to my right hand and grasp it gently but with security. My eyes opened with ease as if they were set free from what ever kept them closed. As I opened my eyes I was blinded by a bright light but it had the warmth of the sun. Once my eyes adjust to this light, I expected to be back in the hallway to which where I was before, only with the lights on but what I saw instead was beyond what I could comprehend. I opened my eyes to see majestic mountains, some overtowering others, some had glistening white snow on their summits, while others were covered in dense forest, lush with green needled pine trees. As I looked around more I found myself in an expanse of a plain full of hills with a green carpet of grass and a rainbow of flowers scattered among the hills. The more I focused in, I saw a variety of birds flying in the sky and butterflies flying in the light breeze that surrounded me with a warm and comforting embrace.

As I was still laying there in awe of my surroundings, my gaze turned turned to a lone lamb resting on its stomach. It was just sitting there as if nothing had happened just moments ago, as if I wasn’t attacked by a hoard of biting beast. There was something strange about this little lamb, it seemed to intently stare at me as if it was studying me. This little lamb had deep brown eyes that looked like it pierced my soul, it also had pure white wool just like the white of pure snow, untouched by dirt or mud. It then spoke to me! It had a soft voice like when father loves on His young child.

“Child,” the lamb softly spoke, “why are you crying?”
“You, you, you,” I struggle to get out of my mouth with a stutter, “you can talk?”
A grin came on to His face, “you are safe now, child.” the lamb comforted me.
“What were those things?” I asked in a shaky voice, “ those shadows?”
“They were old friends,” the lamb said as the smile left His face, “now they are enemies.”

We sat there in silence for a short moment but the pure little lamb looked at me and His smile returned to His face like when a person sees their loved ones after a long time away. The lamb and I rested in that meadow for what seemed like hours but the sun never fell. After a while there amongst the flowers, the lamb stood up and looked to the east.

“Where are you going?” I intently asked.
“To my father,” the lamb answered, “He is wanting us back.”
“Us?” I asked in surprise, “ You want me to come with you?”
“Of course,” the lamb answered intently, “I’ll never leave you.”

The smile the lamb had warmed my heart. We started to walk toward the east. We passed through a field of flowers, of all sorts of colors, red, yellow, and blue. As we came to a path it led us to the edge of a  dark forest...
